Note: Landing gear is designed to stabilize a portion of your trailer's weight, not to support the full GVWR of your trailer. Do not use landing gear to lift your trailer or RV during tire changes or service work because doing so will exceed the capacity of the landing legs.

Stromberg Carlson's landing gear was designed with safety in mind. The motor, manufactured by Lippert, won't trip circuits or cause problems with the coach's electrical systems. In addition, the IP-rated switch will not spark, so it can be mounted safely in the bottle-gas area.

Convenience is also a hallmark of this product. An inner drop leg on each jack makes leveling easy by allowing the jack feet to reach the ground quickly and at varying heights, saving time and thus reducing the draw on the trailer's battery. The cage pins that secure the drop legs can be replaced with spring-loaded pull pins (LG-119113 - sold separately) that allow for single-handed operation. Large, rectangular, pivoting footpads are included, but you can use larger, 9-inch-diameter pads (LG-210475 - sold separately) instead if you often camp on soft ground.

This system and its parts were designed to be compatible with most of the other fifth-wheel landing gear on the market, including Atwood and Lippert. If you're replacing your old landing gear, you can install this set from Stromberg Carlson using your existing mounting hardware.

I thought replacing the landing gear would be much harder on my 5th wheel but they when in without a problem and are still working great. The video walks you through the installation step by step. Rick

Before I purchased my Stromberg Carlson Camper Jacks I messaged your company to request information on my project and how I was going to use the jack system. Unfortunately I received no response from your company but purchased the jacks anyway and installed them on my project to complete it.

by:

A perfect replacement for my old landing gear. Very few adjustments needed to make the legs fit perfect with my existing brackets and a little drilling for the bolt holes. Now at least I know I'll be able to unhook from my truck.

They work very well, quality product

LG-1 (5500 lb capacity 5th wheel landing gear) came in a previously opened box. Parts clanking around loosely inside. None appeared damaged but the lead leg LG-179013 did not operate smoothly. The follower leg, LG-179014, was good. I called etrailer about both issues, open box and bad lead leg. They shipped a replacement leg from their stock a few days later. It arrived in good packaging and worked smoothly. They sent a prepaid shipping label to return defective part. The legs were easy to install. I actually wanted to buy the Stromberg Carlson LG-5 Landing Gear Dual Power Conversion Kit but etrailer did not sell that model. I chose to by the full leg kit and use only the powered leg to convert my 5th wheel to dual power landing gear. It works great. I am disappointed that I received an open box with a bad part but etrailer responded nicely and quickly. That will keep me coming back.

A year later I am pleased with etrailer-Stromberg Carlson landing gear. Having two motors, one on each leg, has made hooking and unhooking a breeze. The motor that came with the kit is loud compared to the factory Keystone Cougar motor but it still works great.

by:

I found the product was of good to excellent quality.
However when reviewing the installation directions it had no directions on how to wire the elec. motor to the control switch. I found the wiring instructions on the motor manufacturing web site. I would recommend that these instructions be with the installation instructions.
Also when connecting the left & right landing gear together with the provided 1" square tube the bars were not long enough to make the span on a standard 5th wheel camper. I had to use my existing bar.

I would use etrailer.com again and I hope this helps them make corrections to this package.

The jack ia awesome. I hope my suggestion were helpful in making the product better!

The parts person helped me find the right parts. I installed them myself and one year later they work perfectly.

by:

These jacks were a direct bolt-on replacement for the Atwood jacks on my fifth wheel. One year later, they are working fine. When considering this purchase, it was not clear if the landing gear would fit or if welding would be necessary. I called Stromberg-Carlson and they sent the technical drawings right away. Answered the question immediately. I will never forget their fine customer service.

First of all I want to say that any of the following comments by me is NOT a reflection on etrailer.com whose support and product shipping has been excellent. It is more as a informational thing than anything. I installed this unit on my 2007 28' Thor Transport toy hauler after it fell off the jacks and destroyed the landing gear (that just made me so happy, you just don't know the joy..). My first comments are for Thor, I want to thank them for the absolute cluster (you know what) of an install of the original gear. Totally inaccessible and the worst engineered and assembled garbage ever. The original gear was tack welded at the stops and the carriage bolts for the mounting brackets were installed so that you could not remove them, they all needed to be cut off, a real dream job in an inaccessible location. In addition, I had to remove the 5500 onan generator and the (2) 7.5 gallon propane tanks and the sheet metal enclosures and doors. Next I would like to thank Lippert and Stromberg Carlson for continuing their questionable design of these legs which are only supported by one tab (on the legs) and one bracket on each leg in the load bearing direction (the other tab supports the leg when in the non-load bearing position. And for the 2 extra bolts (1/4-20 x 1 1/2" with jam nuts) that no one seems to know where they go. Also, there is a lot to be desired with the instructions, but that's just me I guess. Be sure to accurately measure your existing brackets prior to getting started because this could be a game changer if they are off by more than a 1/4" or more, you would have to have your brackets cut off and re-welded. As for my Thor, they were off by about 1/8" and I was able to grind off the bottom of the lower tab (on the leg) to make them fit into my existing brackets. After completing the job (3 days in 105 degrees) I still have some questions about the carriage bolts that were shipped, if I were to do it again I would change the bolts to a much stronger bolt, but it's to late for me now. Etrailer had the best price and fastest shipping and were very helpful, would I buy again from them, you bet...

In June 2022 while stranded at a campground in the finger lake region of NY, etrailer sourced and delivered a Stromberg Carlson landing gear kit that matched up perfectly with my 11 year old Crossroads Cruiser fifth wheel. The kit included all parts needed (electric motor, gearbox, jackshafts, landing pads, new switch, bolts, nuts, etc.) to replace old landing gear components and get my fifth wheel operational. I replaced everything at my campsite. Parts arrived in 3 days, matched perfectly, and were of excellent quality. Direct contact with James R. of etrailer guaranteed the correct kit for my fifth wheel. Terrific service, reasonable prices, and convenient delivery options continue to be a hallmark of etrailer. They are definitely my go to source for all things RV. Thanks for being there and your expertise with RVs and trailers!

by:

After talking to the experts at etrailer they helped me find a complete landing gear set (2 landing legs, feet, motor, gear box, switch, connecting arm, crank) to replace my original 2005 Jayco 5th wheel that I could not get OEM replacements or parts for. we settled on the LG-1. it was almost o perfect fit. I have never replaced landing gear before. I was one of the easiest projects I have done in a long time. The only modifications I had to do was cut a gap for the new gear connecting rod and manual jack crank arm to go through. It took about 5 minutes for both. The whole project took about 1.5 hours. Everything works perfectly.

by:

Thank you Shery and etrailer for reordering, at the same price, the LG-1 so it would arrive on time.
It works great on my 2004 Montana. I did have a problem with lining up the the legs to the already welded on brackets, but with a minamum amount of ajustment (some filing of bolt holes and hammering on leg) I was able to secure solidly. My decision to replace the entire landing gear assembly in stead of just the broken lead leg was based on the age of my RV and the cost to do so (it was a great price). I will continue to use your service in the future and reccomend it to anyone I can.
Thanks again for the great service.

by:

Installed in about an hour. Fairly simple to do. Looks like it will work just fine. Motor to drive it sounds like it may be a little weak for my application on a 30' fifth wheel though. Other than that satisfied.

Working just fine still. Will outlast the trailer Im sure probably! Thanks for the great customer service and checking back dont get that from any other dealer around here!

by:

This was purchased as a compromise. An exact fit was impossible to find since Lippert discontinued Atwood landing gears. A set including motor was ordered since it could not be determined if the old motor would fit the new legs.

As it turns out the old motor fits and works far better than the new one. The legs are not really long enough but can be used if not fully retracted. Not completely satisfactory but we are working around the problems.

Cathy T. was very helpful. I just wish she had a more appropriate set.

by:

I bought this to replace my landing legs on my 10 year old 5th wheel. The lg-1 is a complete conversion kit for a complete install or replacement of manual systems. I bought this because I had multiple problems with my original system and wanted to change out all the major parts at one time and be done with it so it was convenient for me to buy this. You can buy the parts separately if you want. The legs, motor, and gearbox were almost identical to what I had. The replacement took me 5 hours by myself. Everything worked great. Although the gearbox was a little noisy I am happy with this set. The price was great. The service when ordering was awesome. Free shipping and arrived on schedule. I would do business with Etrailer again definitely.

by:

Thank you for you super fast service, because of that i can safely unhook my 5th wheel this coming deer hunting season. I was going to just level it best i could out there and leave it hooked up. Everything was as described on your online ad, am very happy, everything went on perfect. Had to put the cranking mechanism on sideways so manual crank would fit crank hole. Wish there was a better way to secure cranking mechanism to prevent it from wobbling when cranking.

by:

This product was as described and had fast shipping as always when dealing with etrailer. It has been 1 year since we ordered this and the Jack works great. I would recommend etrailer to anyone needing anything that this company sells. They have wonderful customer service and make sure you are 100% satisfied with any item.

Perfect replacement for my OEM Landing Gear. eTrailer Saved my RV Trip! Fast Shipping unbelievable service to ensure I had the correct gear for my RV. In addition, eTrailer had the best value for my money.

by:

Arrived a day or two earlier than expected. Almost identical to original equipment I had on my keystone Laredo 2009. Old gear was very easy to remove. New gear installed easily. Took about two hours with just socket wrenches and basic hand tools. Installed it at a campground.
The only reason I didn't give a five star review is that the kit didn't include new feet as advertised...I just used the old ones. I think this gear is just fine, so long as you get in the habit of chocking the wheels when connecting or disconnecting. Pushing or pulling the trailer with the feet on the ground bends the legs and then the motor overloads.

by:

Awesome .. the jacks on my weekend warrior jacks were undersized from the factory... these Jack lift with no problem... very happy !

Awesome, no issues at all

by:

Received jacks in a timely manner. I haven't installed yet. These new jacks are replacing the old Atwood landing jacks on my 1993 Alpenlite 5th wheel trailer.

by:

I needed one replacement landing gear leg for my wildcat 5er but figured the other one would likely be needing replacement soon after so I ordered the complete assembly. It matched the OE landing gear mounting points perfectly and I had it installed in about an hour. The shipping always exceeds my expectations, I ordered on Sunday afternoon, it shipped Monday and was at my place before noon on Wednesday!

In order to find the correct landing gear legs for a 2004 Carriage 5th Wheel Trailer you will need to measure the outer tube length of your existing landing gear legs as well as the weld stop spacing, either inside to inside or outside to outside.
